The team appointed assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy as their interim coach and started talks with Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim. It's believed Amorim has already verbally agreed to take charge at Old Trafford, but will not push for the move until the clubs reach an agreement. Man City was also considered to be looking at Ruben Amorim as a replacement for Pep Guardiola if he leaves in 2025.
