In an interesting development, a group of shamans in Peru performed a ritual to 'curse' Neymar before their national team's match against Peru in the CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers which was on September 12. In a video that has gone viral on social media, the shamans, dressed in colourful clothes, were seen stamping repeatedly on posters of the Al-Hilal star. They also had a small effigy of the player that they poked with knives. The shamans also blew shells and showered flowers on pictures of their national team players. Although Neymar could not score, it was from his corner that Marquinhos headed to win the match for Brazil.
