Nesbitt became the first woman to referee a championship match in North America, officiating for the MLS Cup between the Columbus Crew and Seattle Sounders. The same year, she was also named the MLS Assistant Referee of the Year. Now, she's in Qatar as an assistant referee at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Kathryn Nesbitt, an ex-chemistry professor from USA is all set to become the first ever woman to officiate in a FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match as England face Senegal in the fourth clash of FIFA World Cup Round of 16. Kathryn has already debuted in the World Cup in Qatar as she officiated the match between Germany and Japan on November 23 as a VAR official.
