The contest was an even one with both sides creating big chances, but India was able to win a penalty which was converted by Sunil Chhetri.  With this win India now have the road to the next round open if they can defeat Malaysia in their next game. A draw can make things complicated as they have a negative goal difference because of the big loss against China.
