Court Dismisses FC Barcelona's Bribery Charges in Negreira Case, La Liga Club Releases Statement

Judge Joaquín Aguirre issued an order in which he maintained that Barcelona's payments to Negreira, would constitute “bribery”. Barcelona quickly applied for review and hearings took place in multiple court proceedings. Today, on May 24, 2024; FC Barcelona has been cleared of the bribery charges. Happy with the outcome, Barcelona released a statement on their website saying, ‘FC Barcelona hereby wishes to express its utter satisfaction with the sense of the resolution issued today by the Barcelona Court insofar as it confirms the defence presented by the club and rejects the hypothesis of the alleged crime of bribery.
