Former Solicitor General of India Harish Salve reacted to Vinesh Phogat's claims of not receiving any support after she was disqualified from the women's wrestling 50kg final at the Paris Olympics 2024. Phogat was dramatically found to be overweight by just 100 grams on the day of the final which cost her a shot at the gold medal. Salve, who had taken up Phogat's appeal for a silver medal with the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), stated that the matter could not have been better than it was by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and that the Government of India did not have any role to play in this. While speaking to Times Now, Salve further revealed that he had wanted to appeal CAS' verdict on her disqualification with the Swiss court of appeal but Phogat's lawyers informed him she did not want to 'carry this further.'
