The experienced all-rounder did not have any idea where the ball was after she had missed the sweep shot and could not make it back to her crease in time with the New Zealand wicketkeeper taking out the stumps. The Australia women's cricket team won the match and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

New Zealand women's national cricket team wicketkeeper Isabella Gaze showed her quick presence of mind as she ran out Ellyse Perry after the latter had stepped out of her crease during the AUS-W vs NZ-W 2nd T20I 2024 on September 22. This incident took place in the 12th over of the innings which was bowled by Amelia Kerr when Ellyse Perry attempted a sweep shot but missed the ball which went on to lob up behind her. The Australian all-rounder instantly set off for a run, unaware of where the ball was but Isabella Gaze reacted in quick time to knock the stumps. Ellyse Perry fell short of her crease and was dismissed for 34 runs.
