The Caribbean team lost their opener in the second over but Nicolas Pooran joined Johnson Charles and scored nearly 70 runs in the next four overs totalling 92 runs in the power play. With this, the side set a new record for the most runs scored in the T20 World Cup power play. They broke the record earlier held by the Netherlands, who scored 91 runs against Ireland back in 2014 at the Sylhet International Stadium in Bangladesh. West Indies went on to score the highest total of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 tournament and win the match by 104 runs. Nicolas Pooran scored 98 runs and won the Man of the Match award.
