West Indies pulled off a five-wicket win over Papua New Guinea in ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday, June 2. But Papua New Guinea won a lot of hearts with the incredible fight they put up with the ball, taking wickets at regular intervals. West Indies won the toss and Rovman Powell chose to bowl first. His bowlers justified that call as they struck regularly to deprive PNG's batting effort of any momentum whatsoever. PNG managed to get to 136/8, riding on a fighting 50 from Sese Bau and Kiplin Doriga's 27 off 18. In response, West Indies started positively, but PNG did not make it easy, picking up wickets regularly. Assad Vala and his men put up a spirited show as they reduced West Indies to 97/5 in 16 overs before Roston Chase and Andre Russell took the co-hosts over the line with an over remaining. Andre Russell Takes His 50th Wicket in T20Is, Achieves Feat by Dismissing Charles Amini During WI vs PNG ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Match (Watch Video).
