Was Shreyas Iyer Out? Controversy Erupts Over Sean Abbott’s ‘Mitchell Starc’-Like Catch During IND vs AUS 2nd ODI 2023
Abbott is known for taking very good catches and he almost pulled off another with his caught-and-bowled effort against Shreyas Iyer. But the bottom part of the bat hit the ground as he fell down and was trying to regain control.
Sean Abbott seemed to have pulled off a magical catch to dismiss Shreyas Iyer off his own bowling in the India vs Australia 2nd ODI 2023. The right-hander could edge it back to Abbott as he tried to dig out the ball which dipped on him. Abbott, on his follow-through, dived to his right and seemed to pull off a fantastic catch. After catching the ball, he seemed to have the bottom of the ball hit the ground as he was trying to gain control of it while he fell down. A very similar incident had happened with Mitchell Starc during the Ashes where he took a catch but grounded the bottom part of it while trying to regain balance. And one social media user also pointed it out. Fans were left puzzled after the catch was ruled out and Shreyas Iyer came back in to bat. Here's how netizens have reacted.
