Waqar Younis led Pakistan to an ODI bilateral win in Australia in 2002 against a Ricky Ponting-captained side. Mohammad Rizwan became the first Pakistan captain after Younis to win a bilateral 50-overs series in Australia.

Waqar Younis known for his tongue-in-cheek comments on television, took a jib at Australia, after Pakistan won a bilateral ODI series Down Under after 22 years, under the leadership of Mohammad Rizwan. Younis was the last Pakistan skipper to win an ODI series Down Under in 2002 when his side beat a strong Ricky Ponting-led Australia.
