The star Indian cricketer took up the mantle of RCB in 2011 and his best performance as skipper of the franchise was reaching the IPL final in 2016 where they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kohli had earlier said he would resign from RCB captaincy after the IPL and his time as franchise captain came to an end with a four-wicket loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2021 Eliminator.

Virat Kohli opened up on his emotional journey as skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in the Indian Premier League. While speaking in a video shared by RCB on Instagram, he says, "It is an emotional moment for me because I have led the franchise for so long and I have tried my best to make the team win a title. Unfortunately, it could not happen and such is life.
