Suryakumar Yadav said that he was 'grateful' after being named captain of the Indian T20I team for their series against Sri Lanka. Suryakumar, fondly referred to as 'SKY' for his initials, pipped Hardik Pandya to attain the leadership role of the Indian cricket team in the shortest format after Rohit Sharma retired after the T20 World Cup 2024 title win. Taking to social media, the 33-year-old shared a picture of himself in India's T20I jersey and wrote a note, a part of which read, "Thank you so much for outpouring love, support and best wishes from you. Last few weeks have been nothing short of a dream and I am truly grateful. Playing for the country is the most special feeling that I will never be able to describe in words. This new role brings with it, a lot of responsibility, excitement and enthusiasm." India's tour of Sri Lanka begins on July 27 with the T20I series.
