India posted a solid 173/2 on the board with Shafali Verma scoring a half-century and Jemimah Rodrigues scoring 47 unbeaten runs. Earlier, captain Smriti Mandhana had scored 27 runs off 16 balls as she and Verma gave the Indian innings a flying start.

Rain stopped play in the India Women vs Malaysia Women cricket match at Asian Games 2023 on September 21. This was after India had posted 173/2 in 15 overs, riding on a spectacular 67 off 39 balls from Shafali Verma's bat and Jemimah Rodrigues' 47 runs off 29 balls. Richa Ghosh provided the innings a late impetus with 21 runs off only seven balls, hitting three fours and one six.
