The Indian Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the stadium whose design is set to be based on Lord Shiva. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath was also present at the ceremony.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, September 23, laid the foundation stone for the international cricket stadium in Varanasi. The ceremony was attended by top cricket stars like Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev and Gundappa Vishwanath among others. Modi also addressed the crowd that had gathered at the venue. The stadium, as per reports, would be built on a theme inspired by Lord Shiva. Tendulkar also presented an Indian cricket team jersey with 'NAMO' written on the back to the Prime Minister at this event.
