Pieter Seelar, Netherlands Captain, Announces Retirement From International Cricket Due to Back Injury

Seelar had made his debut for the Netherlands in 2005 and took over as skipper in 2018. He has been a stellar performer in limited-overs cricket, especially in T20Is, where he has taken 58 wickets in 77 matches. With the bat, he scored 591 runs.

Netherlands captain Pieter Seelar has announced his retirement from international cricket owing to a continuous back injury. Scott Edwards has been named the new captain. Opening up on his decision, the 34-year old Seelar said, "Since 2020 my back problems got worse to such an extent that - much to my regret - I am no longer able to give everything I’ve got.”
