The World Cup-winning skipper entered the world cricket arena on this day and although his debut was a lukewarm one, the right-hander from Jharkhand would turn out to be one of the most ruthless strikers of the ball in the years that followed.
Former Indian great MS Dhoni made his debut in international cricket on this day, back in 2004. Interestingly, Dhoni's international cricket debut, which happened to be in an ODI against Bangladesh, did not go as planned as he was run out without facing a ball.
