The Kiwis got off to a hesitant start as they scored 0 runs in the first three overs, but soon both openers found their rhythm and combined for 67 runs for the first wicket before Devon Conway was dismissed. Then, Will Young and Rachin Ravindra had another strong combination as both batsmen reached half-centuries and Daryl Mitchell added 48 runs of value. After reaching 238/3 in 40 overs, they lost 3 wickets in the following 5 overs, which caused them to fall behind.
