A solid start to the campaign by Sri Lanka as they secure a comprehensive five-wicket victory in the opening encounter with Bangladesh. Bangladesh batted first in the game but could not get going as they kept losing wickets and crumbled down with 165 on the board. Najmul Hossain Shanto was the only one who could out up a fight. Matheesha Pathirana picked four wickets in the first innings.  During the chase, Sri Lanka were troubled early by Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam's new ball bowling, but Sadeera Samarawickrama and then Charith Asalanka's half-century steadied their ship taking them comfortably over the finishing line.
