An exceptional batting performance from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul ensures that India secure a thumping win in their opening game against Australia by six-wickets. Opting to bat first, Australian batters struggled to get going against the tight line and length of the Indian bowlers and after spinners were introduced they crumbled like a pack of cards. Ravindra Jadeja (3/28) was the pick of the bowlers. Chasing a middling total of 200, India were off to a horrendous start losing 3 wickets for just 2 runs, But Virat Kohli (85) and KL Rahul (97*) steadied the ship and they put together a partnership of 165 runs taking India to the threshold of win. Rahul stayed till the end to ensure the win and Indians registered first points on the table.
