Joe Root has decided to give up England's Test captaincy. He was appointed as skipper of the Test side in 2017 replacing Sir Alastair Cook. Root has the record of most number of matches and wins as England Men's Test captain against his name.
Joe Root has stepped down as England's Test captaincy. After team's recent poor run in longer format of the game, including Ashes defeat. "I am immensely proud to have captained my country and will look back on the past five years with enormous pride. It has been an honour to have done the job and to have been a custodian of what is the pinnacle of English cricket," Root said in a statement.
