The Indian men's cricket team won the gold medal in the Asian Games 2023 after the final was abandoned due to rain in Hangzhou on October 7. India won the gold due to being the higher-ranked team in the competition. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had won the toss and put Afghanistan to bat and the heavens opened up when Gulbadin Naib's side was 112/5 in 18.2 overs. The rain never stopped and India were awarded the gold medal. It might have not been the ideal way to determine the result but India have been the best side in the competition so far, given their performance in the past games.
