India Women's Cricket Team Wins Gold Medal at Asian Games 2023 With 19-Run Victory over Sri Lanka, Bangladesh Settle for Bronze

This was the first time that the Indian women's cricket team competed at the Asian Games. Earlier, Bangladesh won the bronze medal in the women's cricket event with a five-wicket victory over Pakistan.

India beat Sri Lanka by 19 runs in the Asian Games 2023 final to win the gold medal in Hangzhou, China, on September 25. Batting first, the Indian women's cricket team posted 116/7 on the board with Smriti Mandhana scoring 46 runs and Jemimah Rodrigues hitting 42 off 40 balls. Sri Lanka's Udeshika Prabodhani took two wickets while conceding 16 runs and was the best bowler, with Sugandika Kumari and Inoka Ranaweera also taking two apiece. For India, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur returned to the team after serving a ban. In response, all Sri Lanka could manage was 97/8. India's best bowler was Titas Sadhu, who took three wickets while conceding six runs. Rajeshwari Gayakwad also took two wickets while Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar and Devika Vaidya scalped one apiece. The Indian team had earlier won the silver medal in last year's Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
