India finally have a title victory in a multi-nation tournament as they beat Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup 2023 comprehensively by ten wickets. Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat only to suffer a massive collapse. Mohammed Siraj (6/21) starred with the ball taking four wickets in the fourth overs of the innings, breaking the back of the Sri Lankan batting. He was supported well by Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah who shared the remainder of the wickets to wrap up the Sri Lankan innings in just 50 runs. Instead of captain Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan came out to open with Shubman Gill and the duo played exquisite shots to reach the target in no time. This is a record extending eighth Asia Cup victory for India.
