Jansen has been rewarded for his splendid performance in the Test series as he is set to be an integral part of the Proteas bowling line-up in the absence of Kagiso Rabada. India picked two spinners with Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal in the team.
South African skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and opted to bat first in the first ODI against South Africa. For India, Venkatesh Iyer, as was expected, is set to make his ODI debut. Marco Jansen makes his ODI debut for South Africa.
