The groundstaff were spotted digging up patches of wet grass to replace with dry grass from the practice facilities to improve an area near the mid-wicket region. Despite their best efforts, Day 2's play was abandoned.

The Afghanistan vs New Zealand One-Off Test 2024 which was set to be hosted the Greater Noida Sports Complex Stadium in Greater Noid, UP has faced a standstill, as the Test match is yet to commence due to wet outfield. Shockingly, after the ground received a heavy beating due to rain on the previous day of the start of the Test match, Day 1 of the Test match was a clear day with sun out. Yet the wet patches couldn't be dried.
