Dinesh Chandimal had to retire hurt with a lot of pain after he suffered a blow to his right thumb from a fiery delivery by Mark Wood on Day 3 of the England vs Sri Lanka 1st Test 2024. This incident happened in the 18th over of the third innings when a 149kph delivery from the right-arm pacer struck Chandimal on his right thumb as he was trying to hit it on the leg side. The right-hander, who was batting on 10 runs, was attended to by medical personnel on the field. Later, he could not continue and had to leave the field.
