Brian Masaba stepped down as T20I captain of Uganda national cricket team and also retired from the shortest format of the game after the Cricket Cranes faced a group-stage exit at ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The all-rounder led Uganda in their first-ever T20 World Cup campaign where the Cricket Cranes registered their first win over Papua New Guinea. In an event in the Ugandan capital of Kampala, Masaba made the announcement. Under his reign, Uganda qualified for their first-ever T20 World Cup. "It’s not a decision I take lightly, but it’s something I’ve been considering for quite a while now," the all-rounder said in a video shared by the Uganda Cricket Association on social media.
