Australia Women start their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with a clinical victory as they defeated Sri Lanka Women by six wickets in the Group A encounter. SL-W won the toss and opted to bat first. But they couldn't get going under the tight bowling from Australia and lost two quick wickets early. Harshitha Madavi and Nilakshi de Silva tried to stitch a partnership but the Aussie bowlers returned strongly in the game restricting SL-W on 93/7. Megan Schutt was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets. Chasing it, Australia lost Alyssa Healy and Georgia Wareham early but Beth Mooney (43*) anchored the inning taking AUS-W comfortably over the winning line.
