Third upset of the competition and this time it has again come from Afghanistan. Riding on the performance of Noor Ahmad and batters, they handed Pakistan a defeat by eight wickets.

Historic win for Afghanistan at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as they have registered their second victory of the competition and their first ODI win ever against Pakistan beating them by a margin of eight wickets at Chennai. After opting to bat first, Pakistan struggled against the Afghan spinners except of Abdullah Shafique (58) and Babar Azam (74) who combined with a strong finish provided by Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan, took them to a competitive total of 283. Noor Ahmed scalped three wickets on his debut in the CWC 2023. Chasing it, Afghanistan were off to a great start provided by Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65) and Ibrahim Zadran (87). After they got out, Afghanistan didn't lose their calm and sealed the chase led by Rahmat Shah (77) and Hashmatullah Shahidi.
