It was a start-to-finish lead for Carlos Sainz who wished for a ‘one more win with Ferrari’ before separation. Lando Norris finished second and closed the gap at the top of F1 standing as Max Verstappen served two penalties.
Carlos Sainz fulfilled his dream with a win at the Mexican GP 2024. Max Verstappen had initially moved into first place at the start, but on lap 9 Sainz took the lead and held it till the end. Drama then unfolded in the laps that followed as Verstappen engaged in a scrap with title rival Lando Norris – leading to Verstappen receiving two 10-second penalties for his moves on the Briton. Norris finished second at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez while Verstappen dropped to sixth position. This reduced the gap between the two racers to 47 points in the F1 standings.
