Thulasimathi Murugesan won the silver medal in the Women's Singles SU5 para-badminton event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on Monday, September 2 after losing the final to China's Yang Qiu Xia. The Indian para-shuttler lost the contest 17-21, 10-21. Xia won the first game which was a well-contested one. The Chinese para-shuttler then put up a good show in the second game as well, taking an 11-5 lead at one stage before winning it and clinching the gold medal. However, Murugesan can be proud of her spectacular effort as she takes away the silver medal in this event. This was a fourth silver medal so far For India, it was a double podium finish at the event with Manisha Ramadass winning bronze. India now have a total of 11 medals. Earlier in the day, para-shuttler won the gold medal in the Men's Singles SL3 event.
