Abhinav Bindra Reacts After CAS Defers Verdict on Vinesh Phogat’s Appeal for Paris Olympics 2024 Silver Medal Till August 16, Likens It to Athletes Waiting for Olympic Games Every Four Years
The 2008 Olympics gold-medal winner shared a message for fans where he wrote about sport also being about 'patience, and the persistence to keep going, no matter what'. Vinesh Phogat had appealed to be given atleast a silver medal after she was disqualified from the women's 57kg final for being overweight by just 100 grams.
Abhinav Bindra offered his take as the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) once again deferred delivering the verdict on Vinesh Phogat's appeal for a silver medal. The wrestler filed an appeal with the CAS, demanding that she be given at least the silver medal and the decision on the same, in the latest development, has been deferred till August 16. In a post on 'X', Bindra, who was recently honoured with the Olympic Order at IOC, likened this wait to that of athletes waiting for the Olympic Games every four years. He wrote, "...this is kind of like what athletes go through every four years, waiting for another shot at Olympic glory. The nerves, the anticipation, the “just get here already!” feeling—we’ve all been there, right?"
