In the video, we see a woman dressed in a yellow saree step off the escalator carefully; she then proceeds to assist her friend, who is also on all fours, get off the escalator. While this may seem unusual, it is not! There are people who get nervous or are afraid to get onto an escalator. This is known as escalaphobia. Clearly, the two women were nervous and found it difficult to get onto the escalator. The viral video attracted many funny memes as well as empathetic reactions from netizens.
