Social Media Influencers vs Indian Olympians: PR Sreejesh and Vinesh Phogat, Mumbaikars Fail To Identify Olympic Stars But Recognise Orry and Dolly Chaiwala in Viral Video
As the buzz around the Paris 2024 Olympics is high, anchor and content creator Akshay Devalapurkar decided to join the Olympic excitement by testing people’s knowledge of famous Indian Olympians. The disappointing response has Akshay calling for greater support for our Olympians rather than for so-called influencers.
There is a lot of buzz surrounding the Paris 2024 Olympics, which are in full swing, and around the athletes participating in the summer games. To join in on the Olympic excitement, anchor and content creator Akshay Devalapurkar interviewed a few Mumbaikars in a 'Who vs Olympians' game. In the video, we see him showing them images of popular internet personalities like Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, Dolly Chaiwala, and Chandrika Gera Dixit, aka 'Vada Pav Girl', along with images of famous Indian Olympians. Most of them immediately recognised the internet personalities. Some were able to recognise Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen, and Indian hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh; however, many of them struggled with guessing the names of the Olympians. Disappointed by the responses, Akshay calls for greater support for our Olympians rather than for so-called celebrities and influencers.
