The Guinness World Records announced that 'Pepper X' has officially broken the record for the world's hottest chilli pepper. It received an average rating of 26,93,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), breaking the previous record of 1.64 million SHU held by the Carolina Reaper. According to the GWR website, 'Pepper X' was cultivated by Ed Currie, founder of the Puckerbutt Pepper Company in the United States, who also developed the previous record holder, the Carolina Reaper. Currie debuted Pepper X on an episode of the popular YouTube series Hot Ones. Meanwhile, Winthrop University in South Carolina estimated Pepper X's scorching Scoville score. The institute tested material from the previous four years. 'Rs 5 Lakh' World's Most Expensive Ice Cream From Japan Costs This Much! View Post by Guinness World Records.
