A potential new scam is emerging in Bangalore, where individuals are knocking on doors, urgently requesting financial help for a wedding. The alarm was raised by a local resident who shared their experience on social media, recounting how a woman in her 40s asked for INR 15,000 for her daughter’s “urgent marriage.” The resident, initially confused and half-asleep, declined the request and later expressed concern that the situation might be a scam. “'No!', I shouted and closed the door rudely, annoyed by the fact that she disturbed my sleep. This is something I regret badly. Anyway, do you think this is a new scam in Bangalore, asking for money for an 'urgent marriage'? If it wasn't a scam, how should one react given that the girl (bride) is a minor? Would a police complaint help?” the post said. The incident led to discussions online, with other users reporting similar encounters. The police are yet to issue an official statement on the matter. Matrimonial Scam: Fraudster Poses as Customs Officer, Dupes Over 250 Women on Matrimonial Sites in Bengaluru, Arrested.
