On August 23, 2023, the country celebrated as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) made history with the successful landing of the Vikram Lander from Chandrayaan 3 on the moon’s south pole. This remarkable achievement made India the fourth country to land on the moon and the very first country to land on the south pole. The incredible achievement marked a milestone in the country’s space exploration. To recognise and honour the historic feat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared August 23 to be celebrated as National Space Day.
