Monik Sharma, a passenger from Assam on Indigo's 6E flight from Kolkata to Guwahati, was offered a compensation of INR 2,450 after he allegedly lost a checked-in luggage bag containing items worth INR 45,000 while travelling on July 19. The incident was reported by Sharma's friend, Ravi Handa, in an X post. Given Indigo's policy which states that the airline was only liable for a maximum of INR 350/kg in case of lost baggage, it offered the mentioned compensatory amount after almost a month in August. The bag, lost during a crowdstrike outage, contained crucial documents such as Sharma's driving license, PAN card and Aadhaar card. Complaining in his post, Handa wrote, "How can it vanish mid air? Was the plane leaking bags?" and on the low compensatory amount he added, "That is just adding insult to injury." Netizens too criticised the airlines demanding improved assistance and further investigation into the matter.
