As heavy flooding hit New York City, a female sea lion and other animals were able to escape from Central Park Zoo, several news outlets had reported. The sea lion managed to swim out of its Central Park Zoo pool thanks to flooding of the plaza caused by incessant rains. Zoo staff monitored the sea lion as she explored the area before returning to the familiar surroundings of the pool, director of the bronx zoo said. Later, the NYPD's Central Park precinct tweeted that all of the zoo's animals were safe and accounted for during Friday's storm. For those unaware, New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley were all under a state of emergency Friday.
