A video on social media showing a shelf cloud to be exclusive footage of Cyclone Remal is going viral on social media. Several users said the video was shot on Sunday, May 26, and taken off a boat in Chittagong, Bangladesh. A user said the video was a shelf cloud from the TS cell in Cyclone Remal, which made landfall on Sunday night. The user also said that a cyclone has a cluster of TS cells and this video shows one of them. However, it must be noted that the video is fake. An X user said the so-called shelf cloud in the video is not a cyclone but a supercell thunderstorm. The users said that the supercell thunderstorm in the video is a rotating wall cloud due to the embedded strong to very strong convection. "Such kinds of storms sometimes give rise to tornadoes," the user added. Meanwhile, severe cyclonic storm Remal made landfall between the coasts of Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal and brought heavy rainfall that flooded homes and farmland, and left a trail of destruction. Cyclone Remal Update: Powerful Cyclonic Storm Leaves Devastation in Its Wake As It Makes Landfall in Coastal West Bengal (Watch Videos).
