Search engine giant Google is paying tribute to Brazilian physicist César Lattes with an animated google doodle today, on his 100th birth anniversary. The Brazilian physicist, who was also a teacher, discovered the ‘pion’ or ‘pi meson’. The pion is a subatomic particle with a mass that is 270 times greater than that of an electron. This discovery gave us clarity and increased our knowledge of nuclear forces. The animated google doodle is a tribute to the researcher, who was born on July 11, 1924.
