Devotees thronged Lord Shiva's temples nationwide on the first Monday of the ‘Sawan’ month and offered prayers. The temples witnessed large crowds and long queues since early morning on Monday. Devotees gathered in large numbers in Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, Baba Nageshwar temple at Naya Ganj in Kanpur, Babulnath temple in Mumbai, Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar, Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, and several others. The month of Sawan began on Monday, July 22 and will conclude on August 19, on the occasion of the Raksha Bandhan festival.
