Karwa Chauth, also called Karva Chauth, is an auspicious Hindu occasion. Karwa Chauth 2024 falls on Sunday, October 20. Married women observe a fast on this day. According to mythology, Rani Veeravati visited her parent’s home on the occasion of the first Karwa Chauth after her marriage. She observed the strict fast; however, since she was delicate, she fainted by evening. Rani Veeravati, being the only sister, was loved by her seven brothers. Seeing her condition, her brothers decided to create an artificial moon to help her break the fast, as the moon had not risen yet. However, upon regaining consciousness she looked at the artificial moon and broke her fast. As she began eating, she was informed by Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati that her husband was no more. However, with the blessings of Goddess Parvati Rani, Veeravati got her husband, the king, back.
