Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has committed to safeguarding India's Constitution and reservation system, declaring that his party will defend these pillars "at any cost" after the UPSC lateral entry cancellation.  In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on August 20, Gandhi emphasised that Congress would fiercely oppose BJP's "lateral entry" schemes, which he described as conspiracies to undermine the existing reservation framework. Gandhi reiterated his stance on breaking the 50% reservation limit to ensure social justice based on caste-based census data. "We will ensure social justice by breaking the 50% reservation limit, based on caste enumeration," he stated. His post comes shortly after the centre cancelled the UPSC lateral entry on August 20. ‘Samvidhan Ki Jeet Hui’: Congress Applauds Centre’s Request to UPSC Regarding the Cancellation of Lateral Entry Ad.
