Comedian Shyam Rangeela's nomination from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeking a third straight term as Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) candidate, has been rejected. Along with Shyam Rangeela, the ECI has rejected the nomination of 31 candidates from the Varanasi seat. Rangeela had filed the nomination on May 14. The comedian had previously alleged obstructions in filing nomination. The Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh will go to polls in the seventh and last phase of polling on June 1.
