The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently said that the act of the wife who filed a criminal case against the husband and in-laws for cruelty cannot be termed as an act that amounts to abetting the husband to commit suicide. The court further said that the complainant-wife should not be punished for taking the recourse of a legal remedy. The high court bench of Justice Gurpal Singh Ahluwalia also stated that a person committing suicide, since being hypersensitive, cannot be termed as an outcome of abetment. "If a person takes recourse to the legal remedy available to them after an offence has been committed, it cannot be considered an illegal act synonymous with abetting the deceased to commit suicide," the court said. HC on Unnatural Sex: Marital Consent Not Applicable in Unnatural Sex Acts Within Marriage, Says Madhya Pradesh High Court; Rules Against Rape Charges.
