The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for a 12-hour bandh in West Bengal on August 28, in response to the police action against protestors during the Nabanna Abhijan rally. The strike, announced by state BJP chief Suvendu Adhikari, is in protest of the recent rape and murder case in Kolkata. Adhikari blamed the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government for the violence that erupted during the rally and demanded Banerjee's resignation. He also called for President's Rule in the state, holding Banerjee responsible for the unrest. The bandh is expected to disrupt normal life across the state as tensions remain high following the clashes between protestors and police.
