On Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar. Besides, a yellow alert has also been issued for Pune, Ratnagiri, Nashik, and other districts in Maharashtra for the next five days. As per the forecast, heavy rainfall in isolated places is most likely on September 9, 10, and 11. While Mumbai is likely to witness heavy rainfall at isolated places from September 9 to 11, the weather agency has said that Thane will witness thunderstorms with rains on September 8. As per IMD, a yellow alert means heavy rainfall between 6 to 11 cm.
