Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today, August 4, responded to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged claimed that water released from Jharkhand was causing a flood-like situation in West Bengal. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Biswa said he respects Mamata Banerjee but cannot accept her belief that the Jharkhand government is responsible for the floods in West Bengal. "Both governments should work together to reduce the hardships of the people," he added. The Assam CM also said that water coming from Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan hills cause floods in Assam every year. However, his government does not blame Arunachal government or the Royal Bhutan government as they understand that water has no boundaries and it flows downhill naturally.
